Sbc 350 radiator
SBC 350 Over Heating in my 56 Bel Air. Current set up is an aluminum 2 row radiator with 14" push/pull fans on either side. I have 4" clearance between the belt pulley and radiator. Took it out in 60 degree weather and it did fine at speed but when I had to idle up the 2 mile gravel road to the house it heated up to 230 degrees.3390 posts · Joined 2006. #5 · Aug 18, 2012. The fans in my 59 come on at 225 and off at 205. This is completely fine with me. 454HO and a 185 T-stat. Fans only come on when stuck in traffic for a few minutes. In my 66 Elky----with an old 307----fans on at 205 and off at 195. 180 t-stat.

Never go under 11" in diameter. The goal is to cover as much of the radiator core as possible. One single 16" fan will not work with a radiator like yours. The LT-1 reached a peak of 370 hp in 1970, before the L65 cratered out at 145 hp from 1973-1975. In 1975, the highest output Chevy 350 engine was the LM1 at a measly 155 hp. Really, the only small block Chevy 350 engines capable of any performance were the LT-1, ZQ3, and L82s.
