Believe the first thru fourth are the same in the main case. Won't be worth pulling the transmission. To check but would interesting to see if could notice a difference in shifting. The top plate is a completely different design to include a fifth gear. Which is really what the H55F is just a H41 with a fifth gear attached to the back.We took a hint from the Toyota design book for this one. We just make 2 matching pairs of plates and bolt them together. The top two weld to the frame and the bottom two weld to the cross member. It's simple and sanitary. It’s a raised cover but to accomodate H55 5-Speed gearbox, The transfer case bolt patterns needs to be moved down a bit I believe. The transmission cane is in the same place on the 83/84 inspection cover. The transfer case opening is around a inch further back on the five speed. May 28, 2020 · There is a difference in H55Fs. The model for the 40 series has the shifter forward on the transmission. The model for the 60 series the shifter is towards the rear. I will find some photos. The H55F with the 40 series top cover is rare.
