Absolutely no primer coat is required for a tough, durable, abrasion-resistant, rustproof finish that blends beautifully and compliments all gun finishing applications.It's pretty easy but you need to make sure everything is clean. The brownells videos cover prepping, the application for each type of coating, and the curing (if required). Yeah the alumahyde is the only reason I question if I should break down the ar; with it being thicker and more heavyduty compared to paint. I Was Wrong About Cerakote And Aluma-Hyde IIThis is an update to an older video called "Best FDE Paint - Hint: Not Duracoat or Cerakote " Thanks for watching...Regular spray paint can be removed with solvents. If you're wanting a durable, protective finish akin to cerakote or moly resin, it is definitely far superior to spray paint and easier to apply than the former two options. In my opinion Aluma-Hyde looks and feels nicer generally than regular spray paint.
