The HIR 9011 is a replacement (w/ slight modification) for the 9005 bulb in the 04+ high beams. They're both 65W bulbs, but the HIR bulb offers almost 40% more light! I've been looking for a way to upgrade the output of my stock projectors and high beams. I came across an easy mod where you use a 9011 HIR bulb in place of the stock 9005 high beams. The 9011 HIR puts out just over 2500 lumens. It's much brighter and whiter light than the stock 9005. So yes, the Philips (Generation-III "HIR") 9012 & 9011 bulbs are based on the newer H11 & H9 architecture and achieve "HIR-like" output levels without being true HIR bulbs. I did allude to this in post #2. safelite west jordan I would just put in (4) 9011 HIR bulbs. Replace both the 9005 and 9006 bulbs with the 9011 bulbs. I live rural off a dirt road (think dark and deer) and I find the HIR lights are plenty bright. I know they are not as sexy as LEDs or projectors, but I think the last set of four that I bought were less than $50.
